MLA Hon Gene Makowsky, Regina Gardiner Park


Thank you Lord for the Hon. Gene Makowsky and for the service he has given to the people of Saskatchewan during his tenure as a Roughrider and also especially to the fitness of the youth he came in contact with as a teacher. Lord, will you guide his thoughts and decisions in his role as Minister of Culture and Sport so that the health and welfare of those he serves may be enhanced. Bless his family so the he may be able to do all that he is asked to do. Lord, may he and his family be aware of your presence in their lives. In Jesus name. Amen.

Gene graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1996 where he received his bachelor’s degree in education with distinction. He is best known for his 17 years playing offensive line with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Lineman twice, a CFL All-Star five times and helped lead the Riders to a Grey Cup in 2007.
Gene was first elected to the legislature in 2011 and was re-elected in the 2016 provincial election. He has served as Deputy Whip, and as Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport (Recreational Initiatives). He was previously chair of the Standing Committee on Economy, as well as a member of the House Services committee and the Crown and Central Agencies committee.
Gene currently serves Saskatchewan as Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport, and Minister responsible for Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority. He is also a member of Treasury Board.
Gene and his wife Tami call Regina home with their three boys, Nicholas, Ryan and Blake.
