MLA: WARREN MCCALL - REGINA ELPHINSTONE-CENTRE

Dear Lord, We ask for Your continued guidance and wisdom for MLA: Warren McCall. Give him a strength and commitment to the work required for the opposition and the many critic roles he has. Thank You for the attention that he is able to give to his constituency. Bless him with a continued capacity to understand and represent the people of Regina Elphinstone-Centre. Amen.

Warren McCall is proud to call north central Regina home. It is the neighbourhood where he was born and raised, and is the largest community in Regina Elphinstone-Centre. 

First elected in a February 2001 by-election, McCall has subsequently been returned to the Legislative Assembly by the people of Elphinstone-Centre in the 2003, 2007, and 2011 general elections. He is proud of the fact that he has been voted “Best Regina MLA” seven years in a row by the readers of Regina’s Prairie Dog Newsmagazine. 

McCall is the Opposition House Leader and is the official opposition critic for Advanced Education, SaskTel, Central Services, the Lean Initiative, Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation, and the Provincial Capital Commission. Aussi, il est le Président de la section de la Saskatchewan de l’Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie (APF). 

McCall holds a Bachelor of Arts in Canadian history from the University of Regina. He volunteers for a number of organizations and community events, including Habitat for Humanity, Regina Folk Festival, Cathedral Village Arts Festival, Albert Library Community Council, Canadian Blood Service, CIBC Run for the Cure, and the North Central Community Association.

MLA: RUSS MARCHUK - REGINA DOUGLAS PARK

Dear Lord, we ask that You bless MLA: Russ Marchuk this fall. May the people of Saskatchewan and Regina Douglas Park be truly blessed by his involvement in provincial government. Give him a growing capacity to carry government responsibilities and make an honest difference for the people who really need his attention. Bless his family with health and happiness throughout the remainder of the year. Amen.

Russ Marchuk was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in the 2011 provincial election for the constituency of Regina Douglas Park.

From his beginnings in Regina Douglas Park, Russ went on to a thirty-year career with the Regina public schools in a variety of capacities, including: teacher, vice-principal and principal at a number of Regina elementary and secondary schools; school board trustee; and, vice-chair and Chair of the Regina Public School Board. Russ also served as an education consultant with First Nations’ schools in the Treaty 4 area, a position he held from 2001 until 2011.

Russ is a strong community leader and passionate about his community, his city and his province. Russ has acted as the logistics coordinator for the Office of the Provincial Secretary for six royal visits and a number of national conferences. In 2005 Russ was presented the Royal Victorian Medal (silver) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for service to Her Majesty and members of the royal family. He has also served as a public representative on two committees with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association.

He currently serves on the cabinet committee on Saskatchewan Child & Family Agenda, the Intergovernmental Affairs & Justice caucus policy committee, as well as the legislatures Standing Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice. He is also the Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Education.
Russ and his wife Karen have four children. He enjoys golfing, kite skiing and cooking.

MLA: GENE MAKOWSKY - REGINA DEWDNEY

Dear Lord, Thank You for MLA: Gene Makowsky. Thank You for the inspiration he has been to many in our province and for the difference he continues to make. Bless he and his family with a continued enjoyment of each other. May their fall and winter season be filled with rewarding opportunities. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Gene was first elected to the Legislature in the 2011 provincial election. He currently sits on the legislature’s Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies and the caucus’ standing committee on crown and central agencies. In May 2012, Gene was appointed Deputy Whip.

Gene graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1996 where he received his bachelor’s degree in education with distinction. He is best known for his 17 years playing offensive line with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Lineman twice, a CFL All-Star five times and helped lead the Riders to a Grey Cup in 2007.

Known as a quiet leader, Gene is committed to giving back to the community. In the off-season he worked as a substitute teacher in the Regina Public School System and always attends as many charity and community events as possible. In 2008, Gene was hired by the provincial government to work with minor football to help aspiring players at the grassroots level in Saskatchewan excel on the football field.

Gene and his wife Tami call Regina home with their three boys, Nicholas, Ryan and Blake.

MLA: GREG LAWRENCE - MOOSE JAW WAKAMOW

Dear Lord, bless MLA: Greg Lawrence and his constituency of Moose Jaw Wakamow. Let this be one of his best years yet. Encourage him with a vision for the future and a road map for how to get there. Bless him with a rich and fulfilling family and protect their health and build their spiritual lives to a place where they are happy and self-actualized. Amen.

Greg Lawrence was elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in the 2011 provincial election for the Moose Jaw Wakamow constituency. Greg currently is a member of the legislature’s Standing Committee on Human Services and is currently serving as Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Social Services with specific responsibilities in foster and child care.

Greg was born in Bienfait, Saskatchewan and was raised in the Estevan area spending many years working in the oil industry. He moved his family to Moose Jaw in 2003 after spending an incredible weekend there as a tourist. It was there he began his employment with SaskTel. Prior to entering politics, he was a customer service technician with SaskTel as well as the vice-president for the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Local 3, and also served as the union’s grievance coordinator.

Greg, who has been involved with politics since 2007, is particularly impressed by the government’s commitment to the Métis people of Saskatchewan.

He is the former President of the Southern Plains Métis Local 160, and former Deputy Commanding Officer of the #40 Royal Canadian Air Cadets in Moose Jaw. He spent many years volunteering at the YMCA teaching martial arts and also enjoyed coaching minor baseball.

Greg and his wife Marjorie have three sons and one foster son.

MLA: HON. KEN KRAWETZ - CANORA-PELLY - MINSTER OF FINANCE

Dear Lord, Thank you for the Honourable Ken Krawetz, MLA for Canora-Pelly and Minister of Finance. Continue to give him a magnanimous capacity to listen to his constituents and the people of Saskatchewan with compassion and tact. Thank You for blessing Saskatchewan financially and using MLA Krawetz as a steward of that blessing. May You give him wisdom in the coming seasons. Ken was elected as MLA for the Canora-Pelly constituency in 1995. In 1997, he and seven other MLAs formed the 
Saskatchewan Party, and Ken served as the interim leader till 1998. From 1997 to 1999, he served as the Leader of the Opposition.

Since 1998, Ken has served as Deputy Leader of the Saskatchewan Party. After his re-election in 2007, Ken was appointed as Deputy Premier and served as Minister of Education. In June 2010, while remaining Deputy Premier, he was appointed as the Minister of Finance.

Ken has lived in the Canora-Pelly area for all of his life. In 1972, he started his eleven year teaching career in Invermay. In 1983, he became a business owner and operated an insurance brokerage for ten years.

Ken’s long history of serving his community began when he was first elected to the Canora School Division Board of Education in 1985 and he served as chairperson for nine years. In 1988, he was elected to the Executive of Saskatchewan School Trustees Association and served as president in 1991-92 and past president from 1993-94.

Ken and Gail have two children. Their son Bryce and his wife Olivia reside in Yorkton with grandchildren Willow and Scarlett. Their daughter Lindsay and her partner Barney reside in Calgary.

MLA: DELBERT KIRSCH - BATOCHE

Dear Lord, please bless MLA: Delbert Kirsch and keep him healthy and under Your protection . Bless him with wisdom and compassion. Give him a sense of the work ahead of him and the areas that would most benefit from his attention. Bless the people of his constituency with prosperity. May they be known for their citizenship and creativity. Also, bless his wife Valerie and their three children with health and happiness throughout the remainder of the year. Amen.

First elected in the 2003 provincial election and re-elected in 2007 and 2011, Delbert has enjoyed serving the people of the Batoche constituency. During his term in opposition, he served as the critic for Forestry and deputy critic for Northern Affairs and Industry & Commerce. He was also Deputy Chair of the legislature’s Standing Committee on the Economy. 
Following the formation of a Saskatchewan Party government in November 2007, Delbert served as the Chair of the legislature's Standing Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice. He was appointed Legislative Secretary to the Premier - Saskatchewan Heritage initiative and Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing.

Delbert was also a member of the legislature’s Standing Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice and the Standing Committee on House Services. He was a member of the caucus’ standing policy committee on intergovernmental affairs and justice. He chaired the legislature’s Standing Committee on Private Bills and the Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies. He was also the Deputy Government House Leader.

Delbert and Valerie have three grown children.

MLA: VICTORIA JURGENS - PRINCE ALBERT NORTHCOTE

Dear Lord, Thank You for MLA: Victoria Jurgens and her work on our behalf in the legislature. We pray that You grant her the energy and passion to pursue the good deeds that are put in her path. Help her to recognize the opportunities and avoid the pitfalls that are often part of the political journey. Give her a renewed optimism for everything that she could hopefully accomplish. Thank You, Lord Jesus. Amen. 

Victoria Jurgens was first elected to the legislature in the 2011 provincial election for the Prince Albert Northcote Constituency. Victoria’s professional life is multi-faceted: she worked as a dietitian and public health nutritionist with the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region and with her husband, she co-owned and operated a small business that dealt with the forestry and agroforestry sectors. She holds an MBA from Athabasca University, as well as a B.Sc. in Nutrition and a B.A. (Honours) in Psychology, both from the University of Saskatchewan.

In 2009, the Dietitians of Canada recognized Victoria for her leadership as part of their Vision 2020 strategy. Victoria says the Prince Albert Northcote constituency is a vibrant one, rich with people, voices and ideas. “I want to help build on the positive enthusiasm of the people in my community and ensure that all residents have the opportunity to reach their full potential.”

Victoria serves as a member of the Legislation and Regulatory Review committee, and the caucus’ Economy committee. She also serves on the legislature’s Standing Committee on the Economy.

Victoria and her husband Allan have three children, one daughter-in-law and one granddaughter. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, weight training, reading, cooking, baking, and solving Sudoku puzzles.

When asked about what she loves most about Saskatchewan, she said: “The best thing about Saskatchewan is its people. Two close seconds are the beautiful skies and our acreage where we can get ‘away from it all’.”

MLA: D.F. (YOGI) HUYGHEBAERT - WOOD RIVER

Father, we are grateful for MLA: D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert and his lifetime of service to both our country and now to his province as an MLA. We pray that You will lead him to those people and places where all of his experience and knowledged will be put to the best possible use. May he also receive supernatural help, advice and encouragement as he serves in the legislature. Keep him and his family in good health. In Jesus'name, we pray! Amen. 

Lieutenant-Colonel D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert was born in Lafleche, Saskatchewan. He enrolled in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1961 and was selected for pilot training. receiving his wings in 1968. Following pilot training, Yogi was posted to 421 Strike/Attack Squadron in Germany as a squadron pilot. Later in his military career, Yogi served as a member of the embassy staff in Washington, D.C. to consult with the United States on newly acquired CF-18 aircraft.

Yogi flew with the famous Snowbirds Squadron for two tours. In 1974/1975, he flew as number nine solo pilot and in 1985/1986, he was the Snowbirds' team leader. In 1987, Her Excellency Jeanne Sauvé invested Yogi with the Order of Military Merit. 

Yogi has served as the MLA for Wood River since being elected in 2000. He has served as the Chair of the Legislature's Standing Committee on the Economy and Chair of the caucus' Standing Policy Committee on the Economy. In November 2008, the Premier appointed Yogi to be the Government of Saskatchewan's main contact with the Department of National Defense and Canadian Forces. Yogi served as the Minister of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing from May of 2009 to May 25, 2012.

In January 2011, Mr. Huyghebaert was appointed Honorary Colonel of 2 Canadian Forces Flying Training School at 15 Wing Moose Jaw. 
Yogi and his wife Phyllis now reside on a small ranch in Glentworth. They have two sons and six grandchildren.

MLA: BILL HUTCHINSON - REGINA SOUTH

Lord Jesus, we ask You to bless MLA: Bill Hutchinson. Help him as he continues in his endeavours to represent and work with the people of the Regina South constituency. Even though he has many years working in the public sector in Regina we pray that You continue to bless he and his wife Jocelyn with new friendships and opportunities in their city. May You continue to draw his heart into a deeper spiritual life that honours You. Amen.

Bill Hutchinson is an architect whose record of community service includes four terms on Regina City Council. As the councillor for Ward 2, Bill earned a reputation for being accessible to residents of the ward, and for providing them with effective representation on council.

Bill also has an extensive record of community volunteerism. He has been associated with the Regina Family YMCA, the Canadian Mental Health Association, Regina Exhibition Association, SIAST, Tourism Regina, the University of Regina Senate, Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation, Agribition, and the Royal Red.

Bill was first elected to the legislature as the MLA for Regina South in the 2007 provincial election and was re-elected in 2011. He served as the Minister of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport and Minister Responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission. He has also served as the Minister of First Nations and Métis Relations, the Minister Responsible for Northern Affairs and the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation, and the Minister for Municipal Affairs.

Bill and his wife Jocelyn live in south Regina, where they have resided for more than 25 years.

MLA: DARRYL HICKIE - PRINCE ALBERT CARLTON

Dear Lord, Thank You for MLA: Darrly Hickie. May You continue to guide him and grant him a clear vision of his work in the legislature and a growing wealth of networks. Keep his spiritual journey alive and exciting. Bless his family with many hours of enjoyment together throughout the fall and winter months. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Up until his election as the MLA for Prince Albert Carlton in November of 2007, Darryl served as a Constable assigned to the Forensic Identification Unit of the Prince Albert Police Service. He is also past president of the Prince Albert Police Association. Darryl was subsequently re-elected in the 2011 provincial election.

Hickie is a proud father who has enjoyed taking part in his daughters’ sports. He has devoted time to his daughters' school activities and was a coach for both of his girls' softball teams. “My girls are so important to me and I get a real sense of pride watching them excel and making lifelong friends through sports.”

Darryl served as the Minister for Corrections, Public Safety and Policing from 2007 to2009 and as Minister of Municipal Affairs from 2010 to 2012.
Darryl and his wife Charlene, a teacher in Prince Albert, have two daughters. “As a family, we enjoy spending time at Waskesiu boating, biking and spending time on the beach whenever time allows.”

MLA: HON. NANCY HEPPNER - MARTENSVILLE- MINISTER OF HIGHWAYS AND INFRASTRUCTURE AND MINISTER RESPONSIBLE FOR SASKATCHEWAN GAMING CORPORATION

Dear Lord, Bless MLA: Honourable Nancy Heppner. Grant her favour and cooperation with all the groups and committees that she works with. May her experience with federal work bless the people of Saskatchewan with opportunities and perspective. Give her a fantastic Fall season and bless her with health and warm relationships. Nancy’s interest in politics was sparked while door knocking for her father Ben in 1995. In 2001, she began working as the constituency assistant for Carol Skelton, MP for Saskatoon-Rosetown-Biggar. She later moved to Ottawa to continue to work for Carol Skelton as her legislative assistant on Parliament Hill. Nancy worked for Leader of the Official Opposition (Stephen Harper) as question period coordinator and remained there until 2005.

Following her work on the 2006 federal election, Nancy became a part of the issues management team for the Right Honourable Stephen Harper in the Prime Minister's Office. Nancy subsequently served as director of communications for the Minister of Canadian Heritage before returning home to Saskatchewan.

Nancy was first elected to the legislature in the Martensville constituency in a by-election in March of 2007. She was re-elected in the 2007 provincial election and again in 2011. From 2007 to 2010, she served as Minister of Environment and Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Water Corporation, Saskatchewan Watershed Authority, and Water Appeal Board.

Nancy has served as Minister of Central Services, Minister Responsible for the Public Service Commission, Minister Responsible for the Lean Initiative, and Vice-Chair of Treasury Board. In June 2014, Nancy was appointed as Minister of Highways and Infrastructure and Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation.

MLA: GLEN HART - LAST MOUNTAIN-TOUCHWOOD

Glen was first elected to represent the Last Mountain-Touchwood constituency for the Saskatchewan Party in 1999. He was re-elected in 2003, 2007, and again in 2011. During his two terms in opposition, Glen’s shadow cabinet duties included Post-Secondary Education, Highways and Transportation, Environment, Labour, Deputy for Aboriginal Affairs and Deputy for Culture, Youth and Recreation.

Following the 2007 election, Glen served as Chair of the legislature’s Standing Committee on Human Services and Deputy Chair of the legislature’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts, as well as member of caucus’ standing policy committee on human services. Glen is currently Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and Co-Chair of the legislation and regulation review committee. He continues to serve on the legislature’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts and caucus’ standing policy committee on human services along with duties on the legislature’s Standing Committee on Private Bills.

Glen and his wife Marlene have three children and ten grandchildren.

HON. JEREMY HARRISON - MEADOW LAKE - MINISTER RESPONSIBLE FOR IMMIGRATION, TOURISM SASKATCHEWAN, INNOVATION AND TRADE

Dear Lord, thank You for MLA: Honourable Jeremy Harrison and his commitment to development in our province and to the people of Saskatchewan. Continue to bless him with professional growth and wisdom. Give him the capacity, strength and wisdom to effectively respond to the reports and requests that continually come. Jeremy Harrison was elected to the Saskatchewan legislature in November 2007 in the constituency of Meadow Lake. Upon his election, he became the youngest Canadian ever to have been elected to both the House of Commons (2004) and a provincial Legislative Assembly.

He first served as Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Energy and Resources, Northern Resources and Oil Sands Development until he was appointed to Cabinet on May 29, 2009. He served successfully for over a year as the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Deputy Government House Leader. He also served as Minister of Enterprise Saskatchewan, Minister Responsible for Trade, and as Government House Leader. In June 2014, Jeremy was appointed as Minister Responsible for Immigration, Tourism Saskatchewan, Innovation, and Trade.

Jeremy has an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Canadian History, a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Juris Doctor (Law) degree.

Jeremy is currently a member of the legislature’s Board of Internal Economy, member of the rail transportation innovation cabinet committee, and Chair of the government’s Red Tape Reduction committee.

Jeremy and his wife Alaina, a school teacher, have one son, MacGregor and one daughter, Finnley.

MLA: HON. DONNA HARPAUER - HUMBOLDT - MINISTER OF SOCIAL SERVICES AND MINISTER RESPONSIBLE FOR SASKATCHEWAN HOUSING CORPORATION AND STATUS OF WOMEN

Lord, thank You for MLA: Hon. Donna Harpauer and her long-standing commitment to serving the constituents of Humboldt.  Help her, as well, as she serves as Minister of Social Services to show compassion to all and to make her judgments with great wisdom and mercy.  Help her to balance her work and home life so that she may have peace and serve well.  In Jesus' name, Amen.

Donna Harpauer was first elected to the Legislature representing the former Watrous constituency in 1999, Donna was re-elected in the new Humboldt constituency in 2003, 2007, and 2011.

Donna was raised on a small farm near Guernsey, Saskatchewan. She completed high school at Lanigan Central High and attended Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon where she received her medical laboratory technologist certificate. Donna interned at University Hospital in Saskatoon, and worked full time in the microbiology lab from 1978 to 1983. Later she married and farmed in the LeRoy area and raised three daughters. Donna is the proud grandmother of four grandchildren.

During her time in opposition, she served as the critic for Highways, Agriculture, Investment Saskatchewan, Crown Investments Corporation, SaskPower, and SaskEnergy. She was also the deputy critic of Highways and Transportation and a member of the legislature's Board of Internal Economy.

Donna has previously served as Minister of Social Services, Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, Minister of Education, Provincial Secretary, Minister of Crown Investments Corporation, Saskatchewan Government Insurance, and Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority. Ms. Harpauer returned to Social Services on June 5, 2014 when she was appointed Minister of Social Services and Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Housing Corporation and Status of Women.

MLA: DAVID FORBES - SASKATOON CENTRE


Lord, thank You for MLA: David Forbes.  Give him strength, grace, and peace as he works hard in Opposition.  Help him to ask wise and just questions in his critic roles.  Thank You for the compassion he shows in advocating for his constituents. Lord Jesus hear our prayer. Amen.


Before entering politics, David Forbes taught in both Saskatoon and rural Saskatchewan.

David received a Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina and a masters degree in Education Administration from the University of Saskatchewan. He was also active within the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation and the Saskatoon Teachers’ Association. David has been a strong volunteer for his local community association, the Saskatchewan SaskTel Jazz Festival and as a coach of youth football and softball.

He was first elected to the Saskatchewan legislature in a by-election in 2001 and re-elected in 2003, 2007, and 2011. In the previous NDP government David served as Minister of Environment and Labour. In the Saskatchewan NDP caucus, he currently serves as caucus chair and as the critic for Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, Social Services, housing, community-based organizations, Workers Compensation Board, diversity, equity, and human rights. He is also the associate critic for Education.

David and his spouse Dawn Martin have three children, Cam, Alison, and Reilly.

MLA: WAYNE ELHARD - CYPRESS HILLS

Lord, thank You for MLA: Wayne Elhard and his long standing commitment to Saskatchewan.  Give him wisdom and compassion as he seeks to serve the best interests of his constituents in Cypress Hills.  Bless him also in his various roles especially as Legislative Secretary for International and Diplomatic Engagement.  Help him to continue to influence this government for the good of all of Saskatchewan. Wayne was the first Saskatchewan Party MLA elected to the legislature in a by-election in June of 1999. He was re-elected in the 1999 provincial election, and again in 2003, 2007, and 2011. Wayne has been a member of the legislature’s Standing Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice and the caucus’ standing policy committee on intergovernmental affairs and justice.

Wayne has previously served as Minister of Highways and Infrastructure and Minister Responsible for the Public Service Commission. He served as the first chairman of the Global Transportation Hub, a large distribution and logistics project just west of Regina.

In June 2010, Wayne was tasked with coordinating the long-term infrastructure needs of the province as Legislative Secretary to the Premier, Ready for Growth Provincial Infrastructure initiative. As a result of that undertaking, Sask. Builds was created on the Board of which Wayne sits as an appointed member. Mr. Elhard was re-appointed as Provincial Secretary on November 30, 2011, and held that position until June 2014. Wayne is currently Legislative Secretary for International and Diplomatic Engagement.

Wayne and his wife, Marilyn, continue to call Eastend home. They have two children: Jonathan and his family live in Red Deer, Alberta; and Brooklyn is attending university in Ontario.

Lord,we  give thanks to You for MLA: Doreen Eagles.  We thank You for her long-standing commitment to serving Estevan as their MLA.  Bless her as she serves her constituents, and her fellow MLA's in her role as Caucus Chair and member of the Board of Internal Economy.  Bless her also in her role as mother and grandmother.  Amen.

Doreen was born in Midale, SK and grew up in the Macoun-Estevan area. Upon the completion of her education, Doreen and her husband Vic ran the family farm and raised two children, Terry and Trisha.

Doreen was first elected to represent the Estevan riding in the 1999 provincial general election. She was re-elected in 2003, 2007, and 2011. During her terms in opposition, Doreen served as caucus Whip and held a number of critic portfolios.

In the government caucus, Doreen serves as caucus Chair and was appointed as the caucus liaison to cabinet. She has been a member of the caucus’ human services standing policy committee and of two legislative committees: the Standing Committee on Human Services and the Standing Committee on Privileges. Doreen also sits on the Board of Internal Economy.

After a courageous battle with cancer, Doreen’s husband Vic passed away on August 25, 2008. Vic was Doreen’s biggest supporter. He was also Doreen and the family’s hero, especially their grandchildren: Beau, Bailee, Shelby and Tristan.

MLA: HON. KEVIN DOHERTY - REGINA NORTHEAST - MINISTER OF ADVANCED EDUCATION AND MINISTER RESPONSIBLE FOR SASKATCHEWAN TELECOMMUNICATIONS

Lord, we bring MLA: Honourable Kevin Doherty to Your throne today and ask that You bless him. Grant him a strength and compassion for the people he serves. Help him to clarify the issues that most impact his constituency and the portfolio he oversees as Minister of Advanced Education and also Saskatchewan Telecommunications.  Bless him with strength and character as well as health and personal work/life balance that still lets him enjoy life and friendships. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.  

Kevin was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in November 2011 for the constituency of Regina Northeast. Soon after, Kevin was appointed to serve as a member of Treasury Board. Born in Rose Valley, Kevin Doherty’s parents Lenora and Mike still live on the family farm.

In June, 2014, Kevin was appointed as Minister of Advanced Education and Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Telecommunications. He has served as Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport.

After graduating from Rose Valley High School, Kevin earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Saskatchewan in 1985.

In his professional life, he has worked as a division director for Investors Group (he was formely a certified financial planner), the director of government relations for Bayer Healthcare, as well as the manager of provincial relations for Glaxo Wellcome. Recently, Kevin served as the vice-president of corporate relations for SaskPower.

Kevin has a strong and diverse track record of community involvement. His service includes former president of the University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union; former member of the University of Saskatchewan board of governors; former vice-chair of the Hospitals of Regina Foundation; former member of the Regina Chamber of Commerce board of directors; and former president of the Saskatchewan Special Olympics.

Kevin enjoys spending time at the cabin in northern Saskatchewan, travelling, golfing, reading, motorcycling, and snowmobiling.

MLA: HON. DUSTIN DUNCAN - WEYBURN-BIG MUDDY - MINISTER OF HEALTH

Lord, Thank you for Dustin Duncan.  Thank You for making him passionate about Saskatchewan, and willing to serve his community.  Please give him wisdom and grace as he serves as Minister of Health.  Help him to balance his work responsibilities and his family life well.  Amen. 

Dustin Duncan was first elected as MLA for the constituency of Weyburn – Big Muddy in a by-election in June 2006 at the age of 26. Dustin was re-elected in the 2007 and 2011 provincial elections.

On May 25, 2012 Dustin was appointed Minister of Health. Prior to this he served as Minister of Environment, Minister Responsible for SaskEnergy and SaskWater. He was first appointed to Cabinet in May 2009 as Minister of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport. Prior to being named to Cabinet, Dustin served as Chair of the legislature’s Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies.

Dustin and his wife Amanda, a musician, were both born, raised and educated in the Weyburn area. They make their home on a farm east of Weyburn - the same land Dustin’s great-grandparents farmed nearly a century ago.

MLA: JUNE DRAUDE - KELVINGTON-WADENA

Lord Jesus, thank You for MLA: June Draude. We ask that You grant her both a creative and a healthy tenacity to fulfil her responsibilities throughout this fall/winter season. Help her to keep her finger on the best pulses to reveal which areas need the bulk of her attention. Bless her with strength, health and spiritual depth. Amen. 

June was first elected to the legislature in 1995 and re-elected in 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2011 representing the Kelvington-Wadena constituency. In 1997 she became one of the original eight founding members of the Saskatchewan Party.

June has served as the Minister of Social Services, Minister Responsible for the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, Minister Responsible for Crown Investments Corporation, Information Technology Office, Information Services Corporation, Saskatchewan Government Insurance, First Nations and Métis Affairs, and Minister Responsible for Public Service Commission. She has also served as Provincial Secretary and has sat on the province’s Treasury board.

During her terms in opposition, she served in a number of areas including critic for First Nations and Métis Affairs, Chair of the legislature’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts, and was a member of the legislature’s Special Committee to Prevent the Abuse and Exploitation of Children through the Sex Trade.

MLA: LARRY DOKE - CUT KNIFE-TURTLEFORD

Lord, thank You for MLA: Larry Doke and everything that he is doing in his role in government. Bless him with a growing capacity to lead and represent the people of Cut Knife-Turtleford. Grant him wisdom and health in the coming years for himself and his family. Amen.

Larry Doke was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in the 2011 provincial election for the constituency of Cut Knife-Turtleford.

Larry currently resides in the resort village of Metinota where he served as councillor for the area since 2000. As well, he was recently the director of the West Yellowhead Waste Resource Authority, chair of the Jackfish Lake West Water Utility, and Waste Water Utility.

Before moving to Metinota, Larry was the owner/operator of Fairview Dodge in North Battleford. While Larry was a successful business owner he took time to be involved in the North Battleford community by sitting as a board member of the local Chamber of Commerce, spending 12 years on the Parks and Recreation board, 14 years on the board of the North Battleford Golf and Country Club, and two years as its president.

Larry has been involved with the Saskatchewan Party since its inception and ran as a candidate in the 2003 provincial election in The Battlefords constituency. He has also been involved with other Saskatchewan Party campaign teams throughout the years.

Larry is a member of Treasury Board, member of Investment Board, member of the caucus’ policy committee on the Economy and the legislature’s Standing Committee on the Economy. He is also currently serving on the Agriculture and Natural Resources committee for the Midwestern Legislative Conference of the Council of State Governments.
Larry and wife Valerie have two children and five grandchildren. Larry enjoys restoring muscle cars, golfing, fishing, and volunteering in the Metinota community.

HON. MARK DOCHERTY - REGINA CORONATION PARK - MINISTER OF PARKS, CULTURE AND SPORT AND MINISTER RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROVINCIAL CAPITAL COMMISSION

Lord, we thank You for MLA: Honourable Mark Docherty and how You have equipped him to help people of need in Saskatchewan and in his own riding. Give him a grace and patience to work within government to make significant improvements in our province. Continue to bless him with health and limitless energy to pursue initiatives that you put on his heart. We thank You Lord that You hear our prayers on behalf of our government leaders. In Jesus' name, we pray.

Mark was first elected to the Saskatchewan legislature as the MLA for Regina Coronation Park in 2011.

In June 2014, he was appointed as Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport and Minister Responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission. Mark previously served as the Legislative Secretary for disabilities and was a member of the human services caucus policy and standing committees, the committee on priorities and planning and served on the Cabinet committee for creative industries. 

Mark has worked in a number of different roles including, director of immigration settlement, director of Dales House, supervisor for health, team leader at Paul Dojack Youth Centre and as clinical director of Leading Thunderbird Lodge; a youth treatment centre for File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council.

Additionally, Mark is a founding board member of Street Culture Kidz Project and has served on the board of the North Central Community Association.

Mark has earned three degrees – a Bachelor of Science through Saskatchewan Indian Federated College, a Bachelor of Human Justice from University of Regina, majoring in human rights and a Masters of Social Work, also from U of R. His interest in education has led Mark to teach Kawacatoose LPN students and youth care workers for SIAST and several courses at the University of Regina.

Mark has also represented Saskatchewan at the provincial and national levels in team handball, rugby, and lacrosse. He has competed in triathlons around the world and is a three-time finisher of the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon World Championship
