MLA: Carla Beck - Regina Lakeview

Dear Lord. We pray today for Carla Beck. Thank you for her commitment to Saskatchewan and to her own constituents. We pray that you would lift her up with energy and focus. Help her to engage her focus in the most productive work that is available to her. Put people in her path that she can both help and learn deeply from. Amen.


Carla is passionate about economic and social justice. She is committed to working for a future that is economically and environmentally sustainable for all.Carla is married to Guy Marsden. They have made the Cathedral area of Regina their home, together with their three children, for the last 20 years. She grew up on a mixed farm near Lang, Saskatchewan.

Carla is the Assistant Executive Director at a local women's shelter, where she helps manage the women’s shelter, which includes program development, staffing, public speaking, and building partnerships with community organizations on issues related to violence and housing. She is a registered social worker and has over 20 years’ experience in that field, including work with Dales House, the Paul Dojack Centre, and the Regina General Hospital’s Women and Children’s Team.

Carla has a twenty-year history of community involvement and activism. She was a founding member and spokesperson for RealRenewal which led the fight to save Ecole Connaught Community School and to promote change in education. As a member of the School Community Council at Connaught, she organized a walking school bus and walk to school event to draw attention to the benefits of local neighbourhood schools. She also served as a board member for two community preschools.

In 2009, Carla was first elected as the Trustee for Subdivision 5 on Regina Public School Board. She was one of only two trustees who voted against the demolition of the historic Connaught School. She also opposed the closures of Dieppe, Haultain and Athabasca Schools.

Carla has been a long-time activist, working on many campaigns including volunteering for the Regina Water Watch coalition in the 2013 waste water treatment plant referendum. She has also helped on many NDP campaigns in the last 15 years.

For most of her life, she has been an active volunteer and leader in our community including work with the Sask. Abilities Council, Saskatchewan Coalition Against Racism, Saskatchewan Action Committee—Status of Women, Camp Easter Seal, Autism Resource Centre, the help line at Regina Sexual Assault Centre, MS Society, Cathedral Village Arts Festival, Cathedral Area Community Association, soccer, softball and FADA Dance.She was named “Favourite School Board Trustee” in 2014 by the readers of Prairie Dog magazine.

MLA: Tina Beaudry-Mellor - Regina University

Dear Lord. Thank you for the Honourable Tina Beaudry-Mellor. We pray that you would give her continuing wisdom in her work at the Legislature. Bless her family with a hunger for the things of God. May she gain deep resources from her personal time with you that would make a positive difference for the people of Saskatchewan. Amen.


Tina Beaudry-Mellor was nominated as the candidate for Regina University on March 18th, 2015. She is best known as a long time instructor in the Department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Regina where she has been awarded for outstanding teaching as both a sessional and with the President's Teaching & Learning Scholars Award for Excellence in her collaboration on teaching civic engagement for post secondary institutions. Many of the MLAs on both sides of the Legislature have been invited to engage with students both in Tina's classes and at the Legislature as she regularly visits with them for the Speech from the Throne and the Budget. 

Tina has published in everything from peer reviewed journals to op-eds and business magazines, commentating both on political & social issues. She is the former Chair of Equal Voice and served on the National Board as well as a former board member of the Saskatchewan Arts Board, the Community Investments Committee of the United Way and the Regina Transition House. At the University of Regina, she served for a considerable length of time on the Community Research Unit board of the Faculty of Arts. Tina has been the chief political analyst for Global Regina for every federal and provincial election since 2007. She has provided political analysis for radio, television and print media and is a strong social media user.

In addition to her academic work, she is the owner of a small management consulting business called TBM Strategies where she has done considerable policy work, most notably on streamlining processes for clients of both the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee program and on the Saskatchewan Surgical Initiative to reduce surgical wait times. She has also worked with the Continuing Education Centre of the University of Regina to write the Flexible Learning Strategy to build the institution's online, televised and blended course and program offerings for students. 

Tina is married and has two very active teenage twins, Kayman and Montana - both of whom have represented Team Sask in multiple sports: track & field, swimming and most recently, her son played quarterback for the South Sask Selects at the Texas International Bowl this February.

MLA: Colleen Young - Lloydminister


Dear Lord. Thank you for Colleen Young and her work for the Saskatchewan people. We ask you to give her a growing capacity to rally people and draw out the wisdom that is in a group. Colleen was first elected to the Saskatchewan legislature in the November 13, 2014 by-election for the constituency of Lloydminster. She is a member of the legislature’s Standing Committee on Human Services.

Colleen was born and raised on a family farm east of Saskatoon and has called the Lloydminster riding home for the last 28 years. Colleen attended the College of Education at the University of Saskatchewan beginning in 1979 and has been active in education ever since. Colleen has been a trustee of the Lloydminster Public School Division Board of Education for the past 20 years, has served as the Board Chair for 16 of those years and currently sits on the University of Saskatchewan Senate. Colleen is very active in the Lloydminster community. Her involvement with the Kiwanis Club, Learning Council, In Motion, Young Life, School Community Councils, and many other volunteer opportunities has always put kids, families, and newcomers to the community first.

Colleen and her husband, Kim, have 1 daughter, Nevada, and 7 sons: Casey, Chester, Riley, Fraser, Percy, Duke, and Ace, a wonderful daughter-in-law, Jessica, and two beautiful granddaughters; Pearl and Belle. She enjoys spending time with her family and close friends at the lake or whenever the opportunity arises.

MLA: Hon. Gordon Wyant - Saskatoon Northwest

Dear Lord. We pray today for the Honourable Gordon Wyant. We ask that you would bless him with a deep spiritual walk. May he consistently discover that you are there guiding and upholding him through all the challenges of life. May you give him a deep insight into some of the particular challenges of this current season, and may he be very effective at addressing those issues. Amen.



Gordon Wyant was elected as the MLA for Saskatoon Northwest in an October 2010 by-election. He was then re-elected in the 2011 provincial election. After the 2011 election, Gordon was appointed Deputy House Leader and on May 25, 2012 Gordon was sworn in as Minister of Justice and Attorney General. In June 2014 Gordon was also appointed as Minister Responsible for SaskBuilds.

Born and raised in Saskatoon, Gordon was the first Canadian-born member of his family. His parents, originally from Europe, came to Saskatoon in the 1950s when his father was retained as the first Head of the Department of Anaesthesia at the newly opened University Hospital.

He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in 1985, and graduated from the College of Law at the University of Saskatchewan in 1986. Shortly after convocation, Gordon began practicing law with the firm of McKercher LLP, where he practiced as a partner until his appointment as Attorney General. In 1987, Gordon received an award for highest standing in the 1987 Bar Admission course. He received his Queen's Counsel designation in 2009.

Since 2000, Gordon has also been an active public servant. He was elected as trustee for the Saskatoon Public School Board in 2000 and served as Chair for two years. He was elected city councillor for Ward 5 in 2003 and was re-elected in 2006 and 2009. 

Gordon and his wife Christine Hrudka have four children in their early twenties. In addition to his family, Gordon enjoys writing, skiing and motorcycling. He is also the proud recipient of the Sterling Writing Award for non-fiction, awarded in 1999.

MLA: Trent Wotherspoon - Regina Rosemont - Opposition Leader

Dear Lord. Thank you for Trent Wotherspoon and the work that he does in his role as the official opposition. That is a very challenging role! We pray that you would grant him great internal resources that would flow from an active spiritual life. Give him effective questions to keep the government accountable coupled with a highly dignified presence that keeps the assembly classy. Amen.



Trent was elected in 2007 and re-elected in 2011 for the constituency of Regina Rosemont. He is the Deputy Leader of the official opposition.

Trent serves as the opposition critic for Finance, Education, Municipal Relations, Urban Affairs, Economy, and the Global Transportation Hub. Trent also serves on a national committee of the CCAF, with an aim to strengthen governance and accountability.

Trent was born and raised in northwest Regina. He earned a Bachelor of Education at the U of R and has taken grad studies in education and undergrad studies in business.

Prior to politics, working with an interdisciplinary committee, Trent developed and managed within the community a nationally recognized program for youth offenders of highest-risk, that successfully increased educational attachment and reduced recidivism rates.

As an educator, Trent taught in high schools and led various new initiatives. Trent assisted in the creation of a new campus for adult students. Trent also led the development of a program for students displaying severe violent behaviours. Previously, Trent worked with a youth agency supporting at-risk youth. 

Trent has background in business as an entrepreneur, through business studies and as a past director with the Regina’s warehouse business improvement district.

Trent’s wife Stephanie is a teacher. Together, they are highly involved in the community through coaching and volunteerism, and by engaging in the many diverse cultural, arts and sporting events that enrich Regina and Saskatchewan.

MLA: Hon. Nadine Wilson - Saskatchewan Rivers

Dear Lord. We pray today for Nadine Wilson. We ask that you would uphold her and grant her greater wisdom and capacity in the coming years. Help her to seek you for insight and guidance. We also pray that you would bring the right people into her life to increase her social reach as well as her own life enjoyment. Amen.


Nadine was first elected as the MLA for Saskatchewan Rivers in the 2007 provincial election and was re-elected in 2011. In 2009, she was appointed Legislative Secretary to the Minister Responsible for Immigration – New Citizen initiative. She has served as a member of the caucus’ standing policy committee on the economy and the standing policy committee on human services, deputy caucus Chair, and Chair of the legislature’s Standing Committee on Private Bills. Ms. Wilson is presently the Provincial Secretary and Legislative Secretary to the Premier.

Nadine studied social service work in Saskatoon, and she later became one of the first women to work as a corrections worker in the Men's Provincial Correctional Centre in Prince Albert. Her public service includes twice elected reeve of the rural municipality of Paddockwood before making the move to provincial service.

In addition to Nadine's legislative roles, she was named a BILLD Fellow in 2009 after completing the Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development program at the University of Wisconsin and has served as a mentor for the Saskatchewan Legislative Internship Program four times. Nadine is a graduate of the 2009 Pacific Northwest Economic Region Legislative Leadership Academy, and also serves as a member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.

Nadine and her husband Doug have been married for over 30 years. Fourth generation cattle ranchers, they live north of Prince Albert. They have raised four children, and are now the proud grandparents of seven lively grandchildren.

MLA: RANDY WEEKS - BIGGAR


Dear Lord. Thank you for Randy Weeks. We pray that you would bless him with the knowledge of how he has contributed throughout the years in his government roles. We ask that you would grant he and his family health and safety throughout the next year. Grant him opportunities to make a difference in a large number of his constituents lives. Amen.




Randy was first elected in 1999 as the MLA for Redberry Lake and re-elected in 2003, 2007, and 2011 as the MLA for Biggar. While in opposition, Randy served as critic for Highways and Transportation, Environment, and Labour, and deputy critic for Immigration and Information Services Corporation.

Randy has served as Deputy Chair of the legislature’s Standing Committee on the Economy and served on the Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies, Standing Committee on House Services, Standing Committee on Agriculture and the Standing Committee on Non-controversial Bills. Randy also served as Deputy House Leader, Government Whip, and as the Minister Responsible for Rural and Remote Health. On September 24, 2014, Mr. Weekes was appointed Deputy Government Whip.

Randy was born in Biggar and grew up on the nearby family farm. He studied at the University of Saskatchewan and received a diploma in Agriculture, before returning to farm and ranch with his family. Randy and his wife Cindy make their home near Biggar.

HON. BRAD WALL - SWIFT CURRENT - PREMIER

Dear Lord. We pray today for the Honourable Brad Wall. Thank you for his dedication and effective leadership both for the people of Saskatchewan and also as a critical voice on the national stage. We pray today that you would give him a fresh resurgence of energy and passion for his work, as well as a renewed enjoyment of his home life and his walk with you. Be his battery to keep him going. Brad Wall was first elected Premier of Saskatchewan in the November 2007 provincial election and his government was re-elected in the 2011 provincial election.

Prior to his career in politics, Premier Wall was active in his local business community and was involved in service work spanning local events, economic development and health care recruitment.

One of his earliest forays into politics was in the late 1980's as a founding member and western Co-Chair of the Alliance for the Future of Young Canadians. This was an organization dedicated to promoting free trade.

Brad Wall was born and raised in Swift Current, which is in Saskatchewan’s southwest. He still lives there with his wife, Tami, as well as two of their three children: Colter and Faith. Their daughter Megan is enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan.

He received his post secondary education at the University of Saskatchewan where he earned an honours degree in public administration.

MLA: Doyle Vermette - Cumberland

Doyle was elected MLA for the Cumberland constituency in the June 2008 by-election and re-elected in the 2011 provincial election.

Of Métis ancestry, Doyle was born and raised in Prince Albert. He made the La Ronge area his permanent home in 1990. Doyle and his wife Sandra have a blended family and their children were raised in La Ronge, where their family is concentrated.

Doyle has a lengthy record of public activity. He was a member of the Board of Education, Northern Lights School Division/Nortep-Norpac for eight years, serving as board Chair for two years. From 2004 until early 2008, Doyle was the Acting Chair of the Gabriel Dumont Institute. As an alderman for Air Ronge from 1994 to 1997, Doyle had a particular passion for expanding recreation and youth programs. Over an eighteen-year period, he served on the boards of the Keewatin Career Development Corporation, the Saskatchewan Water Corporation, the Jim Brady Métis Local #19, and the Kikinahk Friendship Centre. While serving on these boards, Doyle completed numerous governance and leadership courses. He is proud of the experience and education he has gained working with and representing the people of the north.

Doyle is the Opposition Whip and currently holds critic responsibilities for Northern Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Government Insurance, and the Saskatchewan Transportation Corporation, and also the associate critic for First Nations and Métis Relations.

MLA: Hon. Corey Tochor - Saskatoon Eastview

Corey Tochor was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in the 2011 provincial election for the Saskatoon Eastview constituency.

Prior to entering politics, Corey was a local Saskatoon entrepreneur who owned and operated Health Conveyance Inc., a communications company that provides electronic messaging in health facilities across the province.

Corey has been very active in his local community as past vice-president of the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon and has volunteered on the corporate board for Telemiracle 33. He has also served as treasurer of the Kinsmen Activity Place House, which is a community center supporting Saskatoon’s inner city.

Corey was born and raised in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. He currently resides in Saskatoon with his wife Danielle.

MLA: Hon. Christine Tell - Regina Wascana Plains

Christine was first elected to the legislature as the MLA for Regina Wascana Plains in the 2007 provincial election and was re-elected in 2011. She has served as Minister of Government Services, Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, and Minister of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport. Ms. Tell is currently the Minister Responsible for Corrections and Policing.
Born and raised in Regina, Christine graduated from Miller High School before receiving a psychiatric nursing diploma from Wascana Institute (SIAST). After working as a psychiatric nurse for a time, she entered and graduated from the Saskatchewan Police College. She joined the Saskatoon police service and worked there for three years before joining the Regina City Police. Christine rose to the rank of sergeant and was in charge of central operations prior to taking a leave of absence to run as a candidate for a seat in the provincial legislature.

Christine served in the Regina Police Association and the Saskatchewan Federation of Police Officers for a number of years during her police career. She was elected as president of the Regina Police Association and was the first woman in Canada to lead a major police association.

Community involvement has been an important role in Christine's life. She served on the Police Pension Administrative Board; Canadian Pension & Benefits Institute, Saskatchewan council; Regina Airport Authority - Community Consultative Committee; Regina Business & Professional Women's Organization; Regina Women's Network; and, Women of the Dawn, Aboriginal Awards selection committee.

Christine is married and has two sons.

MLA: Hon. Lyle Stewart - Thunder Creek

Dear Lord. We pray today for the Honourable Lyle Stewart. We ask that you would give him new vision for the province and an ability to bring multiple voices together in dialogue that is productive. Help him to have a stick-to-it attitude that would rival any great statesman of the past. Amen.



Lyle Stewart was born and raised near Pense, Saskatchewan where he continues to farm and ranch with his wife Linda and son Lee.

Lyle was one of the first members in the newly formed Saskatchewan Party and was elected to the Legislative Assembly as the MLA for Thunder Creek in 1999.

He was re-elected in 2003, 2007 and 2011. During his two terms in opposition, Lyle served as the interim leader of the party, as well as the critic for Agriculture, Economic Development and Industry and Resources.

After the Saskatchewan Party formed the government in 2007, Lyle served as the Minister for Enterprise and Innovation, the chair of the Legislature's Standing Committee on the Economy, a member of the caucus' standing policy committee on the economy, and the province's Treasury Board.

On May 25, 2012 Premier Brad Wall appointed Lyle as the Minister of Agriculture and Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation.

Lyle and his wife Linda have grown children and five grandchildren.

MLA: Warren Steinley - Regina Walsh Acres

Dear Lord. Thank you for Warren Steinley. We pray that he would have a clear sense of his constituents needs as well as a sharp vision for how he can contribute at the legislature. Give him a grace with difficult people as well as thick skin to deal with unfair criticism. Bless him with the tenacity and drive to seek you in his own personal spiritual journey. Amen.


Warren Steinley was first elected in the constituency of Regina Walsh Acres in the 2011 provincial election.

Warren grew up on a dairy farm near Rush Lake where he did everything from milking cows to marketing breeding stock at exhibitions across Western Canada.

Warren then graduated with an Honours Degree in Political Science from the University of Regina where he was a member of the Cougars Track and Field team. He also co-founded the local Saskatchewan Party Campus Club.

After university, Warren combined his farm background and his commitment to public service by spending a summer as an intern in the Minister of Agriculture's office in Ottawa. He then worked within the Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification's office during the fall of 2008.

Warren worked in various government roles with the latest one being Director of Research in the Caucus office prior to being elected on November 7, 2011.

Warren, his wife Larissa and their son, Nickson reside in Regina.

MLA: Doug Steele - Cypress Hills

Dear Lord. We pray today for Doug Steele and the people that he leads. May he have a successful year in the legislature as well as in his farming endeavours. We pray that you would grant him a rich spiritual life that is both meaningful and authentic as he seeks you. Amen.


Doug Steele was nominated as candidate for Cypress Hills on July 28, 2015. 

Doug worked for 19 years in the grain industry from manager of a local elevator to the Marketing Manager of an inland terminal. He has sat on numerous committees in the southwest region: the Southwest Municipal Government committee , Southwest Area Transportation committee, Chair of the Crown Lands Appeal Board for the province, sat on the Nuclear Waste Management Organization, sat on the SaskDocs (Physician Recruitment), Rural Economic Development Committee, MREP(Municipal Roads for the Economy Program) Committee as well as many other SARM appointed committees over the years. 

Steele and his wife Phyllis, have three grown children and one grandchild. Steele has been involved in politics at the civic level for 19 years.

MLA: Cathy Sproule - Sashatoon Nutana

Cathy Sproule was elected to represent the constituency of Saskatoon Nutana in 2011.

Born and raised on a farm in southern Saskatchewan, Cathy Sproule worked as a lawyer for the federal government as an aboriginal law specialist prior to being elected.


Cathy co-founded the Ness Creek Music Festival in 1991, and the Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Festival in 2006. She organizes music workshops, dances, and concerts around the province to keep a part of Saskatchewan's history alive. She is an accomplished fiddle player, and the house accompanist for the Saskatoon Fiddle Orchestra.


Cathy is bilingual and holds bachelor degrees in Education, Law, and Arts from the University of Saskatchewan. She co-owns Ness Core Ventures, a small business that operates the Nesslin Lake Campgrounds and the Ness Creek Site.

MLA: Nicole Sarauer - Regina Douglas Park

Nicole Sarauer was elected in 2016 as the MLA for Regina Douglas Park.
Nicole grew up in Regina and studied at the University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan, where she completed a Juris Doctorate in Law with Honours in 2009.
She returned to Regina and practiced law at a private firm until 2011, when she moved to practice at a provincial charity which provides free legal representation to those who need access to the justice system. 
Nicole was elected in 2012 as a Trustee of the Regina Catholic School Board. She has served as a volunteer and board member with groups such as the Regina Sexual Assault Centre, Regina’s chapter of Amnesty International, and the YWCA Big Sisters program.

MLA: Laura Ross - Regina Qu'appelle Valley

Laura was first elected as an MLA for Regina Qu’Appelle Valley constituency in 2007 and was re-elected in 2011. She was appointed Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Health, responsible for retention and recruitment of nurses, long-term care and the reduction of surgical wait times. She was also Minister of Government Services.

Laura currently serves on the caucus’ policy committee on human services and the legislature’s Standing Committee on Human Services, is a member of the board of directors of the Crown Investments Corporation of Saskatchewan and is a member of the creative industries cabinet committee.

Laura is a founding member of the Saskatchewan Chapter of Equal Voice and serves as a role model and mentor to young women interested in professional and political lives. Laura also was instrumental in the development of Regina’s first Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build project in 2011 and she sat on a committee to spearhead the Habitat for Humanity Mountie House.

Laura Ross was born and raised on the family farm near Yorkton and attended the University of Regina where she obtained a B.A. in geography and sociology. For more than twenty years Laura was a licensed realtor in Regina specializing in residential properties. Prior to her success as a realtor, she operated her own catering company and farmed with her husband Terry.

Laura and her husband currently reside in Regina. They have one son.

Jim Reiter was first elected as the MLA for Rosetown-Elrose in the 2007 provincial election and was re-elected in 2011. 

Professionally, Jim has extensive experience in municipal governance. He was the long-time administrator for the Rural Municipalities of Marriott and Pleasant Valley. He has served as director, Vice-President, and President of the Rural Municipal Administrators' Association (RMAA), as well as executive director.

Among his educational accomplishments is a Senior Certificate in Local Government Administration from the University of Regina. He also served six years on the U of R Senate. Jim has served his community as a Justice of the Peace and marriage commissioner.

Jim served as the Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Education with specific responsibility for the Property Tax Initiative. His report formed the basis for the largest education property tax cut in a single year in the province's history. Jim served as the Minister of Highways and Infrastructure and the Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Transportation Company.

Jim currently serves as Minister of Government Relations, Minister Responsible for First Nations, Métis and Northern Affairs, and Minister Responsible for SaskEnergy.

MLA: Nicole Rancourt - Prince Albert Northcote

Dear Lord. Thank you for Nicole Rancourt. We pray that this next season in the legislature would be fruitful and meaningful to her. Help her to serve her constituents well while also serving in her role in the official opposition. May you bless her family with health and close relationships. Amen.



Nicole Rancourt was elected in 2016 as the MLA for Prince Albert Northcote.
Nicole is a registered social worker and worked at the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region.
Nicole has been a volunteer with many organizations. In 2008, the Elizabeth Fry Society presented Nicole with their Rebel With A Cause award for her work with incarcerated women. She is the past chairperson of the Citizen’s Advisory Committee for Saskatchewan Penitentiary and Prince Albert Parole. 
Nicole has a son and daughter, a step-son and step-daughter, and two grandsons. She and her partner enjoy cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders, playing slo-pitch on local teams, and supporting local sports and arts.
