
Don was
first elected to represent the Moosomin constituency in the 1986 general
election. He was re-elected in 1991, 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011. He was
named Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan on December 10, 2007,
the first day of the opening session of the 26th Legislature. He served as
Speaker until December, 2011.
Don was
born in Kipling and raised on the family farm near Langbank. Don studied
agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan and then entered the Full Gospel
Bible Institute in Eston, Saskatchewan. Prior to his political career, Don
served his community on a number of boards and organization and also served on
an RM council.
Aside
from his political duties, Don keeps himself busy helping on the farm and
spending time with his wife Lois, their children, and most importantly, the
three grandchildren.
