MLA - Kevin Doherty - Regina Northeast

Dear Lord. Thank you for the Honourable Kevin Doherty. We ask you to give him an extra helping of grace, wisdom and compassion as he navigates the challenges of balancing a budget after a commodity price drop. We know this is really hard, and we pray that he would hear your inspiration and leading as he continues to chart the course for Saskatchewan’s finances in the coming months. Give him a restful summer that includes a deeper spiritual walk. Amen.

First elected to the Saskatchewan legislature in 2011, Kevin was re-elected in April of 2016.

Kevin currently serves as Saskatchewan’s Minister of Finance. His previous appointments include: Minister of Advanced Education, Minister responsible for SaskTel, Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport, and Minister responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission.

Prior to his career in politics, Kevin worked as a division director for Investors Group, the director of government relations for Bayer Healthcare, as well as the manager of provincial relations for GlaxoWellcome, and vice president of corporate relations at SaskPower.

Over the years Kevin has been very involved in the community – he is a former president of the University of Saskatchewan Students' Union, member of the University of Saskatchewan Board of Governors, vice chair of the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, member of the Regina Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and former president of the Saskatchewan Special Olympics.

Kevin grew up on the family farm near Rose Valley, has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan, and formerly held a certified financial planner designation.

In his free time, Kevin enjoys spending time at the cabin in northern Saskatchewan, traveling, golfing, reading, motorcycling, and snowmobiling.
