MLA - Mr. Trent Wotherspoon - Regina Rosemont

Dear Lord. We pray today for Trent Wotherspoon. He has a critical role as leader of the opposition. We pray that you would uphold his character and discretion as he keeps the government accountable. May you use him to protect the people who have no voice. Bless he and his family with rich relationships and meaningful spiritual lives. Amen.

Trent was elected in 2007 and re-elected in 2011 and 2016 for the constituency of Regina Rosemont.

Trent has served as the opposition critic for Finance, Education, Municipal Relations, Urban Affairs, Economy, and the Global Transportation Hub. Trent has also served on a national committee of the CCAF, with an aim to strengthen governance and accountability.

Trent was born and raised in northwest Regina. He earned a Bachelor of Education at the U of R and has taken grad studies in education and undergrad studies in business.

Prior to politics, working with an interdisciplinary committee, Trent developed and managed within the community a nationally recognized program for youth offenders of highest risk which successfully increased educational attachment and reduced recidivism rates.

As an educator, Trent taught in high schools and led various new initiatives. Trent assisted in the creation of a new campus for adult students. Trent also led the development of a program for students displaying severe violent behaviours. Previously, Trent worked with a youth agency supporting at-risk youth.

Trent has background in business as an entrepreneur, through business studies, and as a past director with the Regina’s warehouse business improvement district.

Trent’s wife Stephanie is a teacher. Together, they are highly involved in the community through coaching and volunteerism, and by engaging in the many diverse cultural, arts and sporting events that enrich Regina and Saskatchewan.

MLA - Hon. Nadine Wilson - Biggar Saskatchewan Valley

Dear Lord. Thank you for Nadine Wilson. We ask you to  protect her from deceptions that can throw her off the trail. Help her to track down the best options while ignoring rabbit trails that lead nowhere. Bless her with a spiritual life that is growing and healthy. Amen.

First elected MLA for Saskatchewan Rivers in the 2007 provincial election, Nadine was re-elected in 2011 and 2016.

Nadine has served Saskatchewan as Legislative Secretary to the Minister Responsible for Immigration (New Citizen initiative), deputy caucus chair, and as chair of the legislature’s Standing Committee on Private Bills.  She is presently the Provincial Secretary and proudly serves her province as a member of the caucus Management Committee and the Standing Committee on Human Services.

Nadine studied social service work and later became one of the first women to work as a corrections worker in the Men's Provincial Correctional Centre in Prince Albert. She was twice elected reeve of the rural municipality of Paddockwood before making the move to provincial service. A former Saskatchewan 4-H club leader, Nadine remains involved in this youth organization.

Nadine was named a BILLD Fellow in 2009 after completing the Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development program and has served as a mentor for the Saskatchewan Legislative Internship Program four times. Nadine is a graduate of the 2009 Pacific Northwest Economic Region Legislative Leadership Academy, and serves as a member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.

Fourth generation cattle ranchers, Nadine and her husband Doug reside north of Prince Albert. They raised four children who all live and work in Saskatchewan, and are now the proud grandparents of seven lively grandchildren.

MLA - Randy Weekes - Biggar Sask Valley

Dear Lord. We pray today for Randy Weekes. We ask you to give him a fresh excitement for the work of Government. Help him to engage deeply in his constituent work as well as the committee work of the Legislature. Build up his immunity to lame excuses from others. Help him to be the sort of person that inspires those around him to be better. Amen.

Randy was first elected in 1999 as the MLA for Redberry Lake and re-elected in 2003, 2007, 2011, and 2016 as the MLA for Biggar-Sask Valley. While in opposition, Randy served as critic for Highways and Transportation, Environment, and Labour, and deputy critic for Immigration and Information Services Corporation.

Randy has served as deputy chair of the Standing Committee on the Economy and served on the Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies, Standing Committee on House Services, Standing Committee on Agriculture, and Standing Committee on Non-Controversial Bills.

Randy is currently Government Caucus Chair and a member of the Private Bills Committee, the Privileges Committee, and the Public Accounts Committee. He is chair of the caucus Management Committee.

Randy was born in Biggar and grew up on the nearby family farm. He studied at the University of Saskatchewan and received a diploma in Agriculture, before returning to farm and ranch with his family. Randy and his wife Cindy make their home near Biggar.

MLA - Premier, Hon. Brad Wall - Swift Current

Dear Lord. Thank you for our Premier, the Honourable Brad Wall. We ask you to help him navigate the deep challenges of this current year. Give him opportunity to explain the measures and to cast a vision of the province moving forward from this point. We pray that you would uphold and empower our leader with a vision from you of what you want in the province. Amen.

Brad Wall was first elected Premier of Saskatchewan in the November 2007 provincial election. His government was re-elected in the 2011 and 2016 provincial elections. He also serves as the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs.

Premier Wall was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1999, representing the constituency of Swift Current. Prior to entering elected politics, he was active in his local business community and involved in service work spanning local events, economic development and health care recruitment.

One of his earliest forays into politics was in the late 1980's as a founding member and western co-chair of the Alliance for the Future of Young Canadians. This was an organization dedicated to promoting free trade.

Premier Wall was born and raised in Swift Current, which is in Saskatchewan’s southwest. He still lives there with his wife, Tami. They have three children.

Premier Wall received his post-secondary education at the University of Saskatchewan, where he earned an Honours degree in Public Administration.

In his spare time, Premier Wall enjoys spending his time with family, reading, cooking, golfing, cheering for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and tinkering with his 1967 Dodge Coronet.

MLA - Doyle Vermette - Cucmberland

Dear Lord. We pray today for Doyle Vermette. Give him a clear sense of how he can do the best work for Saskatchewan. Help him to balance criticism and affirmation. May he truly be a force for good in the province. Bless him with eyes to see the spiritual forces and realities impacting the real-life situations. Amen.

Doyle was elected MLA for the Cumberland constituency in the June 2008 by-election and re-elected in the 2011 and 2016 provincial elections.

Of Métis ancestry, Doyle was born and raised in Prince Albert. He made the La Ronge area his permanent home in 1990. Doyle and his wife Sandra have a blended family and their children were raised in La Ronge, where their family is concentrated.

Doyle has a lengthy record of public activity. He was a member of the Board of Education, Northern Lights School Division/Nortep-Norpac for eight years, serving as board chair for two years. From 2004 until early 2008, Doyle was the acting chair of the Gabriel Dumont Institute. As an alderman for Air Ronge from 1994 to 1997, Doyle had a particular passion for expanding recreation and youth programs. Over an eighteen-year period, he served on the boards of the Keewatin Career Development Corporation, the Saskatchewan Water Corporation, the Jim Brady Métis Local #19, and the Kikinahk Friendship Centre. While serving on these boards, Doyle completed numerous governance and leadership courses. He is proud of the experience and education he has gained working with and representing the people of the north.

Doyle is the Opposition Whip and holds critic responsibilities for Northern Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Government Insurance, and the Saskatchewan Transportation Corporation, and was also the associate critic for First Nations and Métis Relations.

MLA Corey Tochor - Saskatoon Eastview

Dear Lord. Thank you for the Honourable Corey Tochor. We ask you to be a consistent whispering voice of wisdom to his soul. Help him to be a fair and impartial speaker. Give him the backbone and charm to guide the house to be classy and dignified. Amen. 

Corey Tochor was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in the 2011 provincial election. He was re-elected in 2016.

Prior to entering politics, Corey was a local Saskatoon entrepreneur who owned and operated Health Conveyance Inc., a communications company that provides electronic messaging in health facilities across the province.

Corey has been very active in his local community as past vice-president of the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon and has volunteered on the corporate board for Telemiracle 33.Sa He has also served as treasurer of the Kinsmen Activity Place House, which is a community center supporting Saskatoon’s inner city.

In government, Corey has served as Deputy Whip, a member of the Standing Committee on Human Services, Public Accounts Committee, and Private Bills Committee. He was also vice-chair of the caucus New Ideas Committee and a member of the caucus Management Committee.

At the opening of the 28th Legislature, Corey was elected to serve as Speaker, the Assembly’s presiding officer. He also serves as Chair of the Board of Internal Economy, the Privileges Committee, and the House Services Committee.

Corey was born and raised in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. He currently resides in Saskatoon with his wife Danielle.

MLA - Hon. Christine Tell - Regina Walsh Acres

Dear Lord. Thank you for the Honourable Christine Tell. We thank you for her commitment to Saskatchewan people and especially to the women of the province. We ask you to give her patience when the processes get bogged down, as well as the precise wisdom on how hard to push in order to do the best good. Bless her with a deeply rich spiritual walk. Amen.

Born and raised in Regina, Christine graduated from Miller High School after which she went on to earn her psychiatric nursing diploma from Wascana Institute. The next step in Christine’s professional life was to graduate from the Saskatchewan Police College.

Christine served on the Saskatoon Police Service for three years before joining the Regina city police. Christine served in the Regina Police Association and the Saskatchewan Federation of Police Officers. In 2007, she was elected president of the Regina Police Association and was the first woman in Canada to lead a major police association. Christine also rose through the ranks of the Regina city police.

Christine was first elected MLA for Regina Wascana Plains in the November 2007 provincial election. She was re-elected in 2011 and 2016. She has previously served as Minister of Government Services, Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, Minister of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport, and Minister responsible for Corrections and Policing. Christine is currently Minister of Central Services, and Minister responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission and Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation.

For the past several years, along with fellow MLA Laura Ross, Christine has been hosting about 200 mentors and girls at an annual self-esteem and leadership event. Christine lives by the philosophy that “strong girls grow up to be strong women and strong women build strong communities.”
