MLA - Bill Boyd - Kindersley

Dear Lord. Thank you for the Bill Boyd. Thank you for his dedication and commitment to Saskatchewan people. We ask that you give him a beautiful summer that includes quiet time with you. May he be filled with wisdom and resolve to do a great job with the current challenges in government. Amen. 

Bill was the MLA for the Kindersley constituency from 1991 until 2002. Originally elected in 1991 as a Progressive Conservative MLA, Bill became the leader of that party in 1994. He was re-elected in 1995. In 1997, he and three of his colleagues joined with four Liberal MLAs and founded the Saskatchewan Party. When Bill was re-elected in 1999, he was one of 26 MLAs elected under the Saskatchewan Party banner. He was re-elected in the Kindersley constituency in the 2007, 2011, and 2016 provincial elections.

After the Saskatchewan Party formed government in November 2007, Premier Brad Wall appointed Bill as the Minister of Energy and Resources, Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Power Corporation, Minister Responsible for Uranium Development Partnership, and the Minister Responsible for Innovation. In 2010, Bill's cabinet duties changed to include SaskTel and the Global Transportation Hub (GTH).

Bill has previously served as Minister of the Economy, as well as a member of the caucus Planning and Priorities Committee, the Crown Investments Corporation Board, chair of the cabinet Red Tape Committee, and chair of the Global Transportation Hub Committee. He is currently a member of the Standing Committee on the Economy.

Bill and his wife Lynn operate a pedigree seed farm near Eston. They have two children

MLA - Steven Bonk - Moosomin

Dear Lord. We pray today for Steven Bonk. We pray that you would give him a clear sense on how you see world and local events. May he look at the challenges confronting us with a wisdom that flows from the divine source. May he and his family have a great summer that drays them closer to you. Amen.

Steven Bonk was elected as MLA for Moosomin on April 4, 2016.

Steven has extensive experience in the domestic and international agribusiness fields. He has worked on four continents as a consultant in agricultural management and policy development. Steven has also worked as an advisor on international trade and market access. He lived in Europe for nearly a decade, where he was the managing director of livestock-based enterprises and as a management consultant to help companies grow and solve strategic challenges with the transition to a free market economy, particularly in post-Soviet countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Steven communicates in four languages, facilitating his participation on international roundtable discussion panels and he is a recognized speaker at agribusiness-related events. Steven is also actively involved in his family's custom grazing and livestock business near Wolseley.

Steven, his wife Candace, and their daughter, Emma, have strong ties to the Moosomin constituency. They are the fifth generation of his family to reside there.

In addition to his busy personal and professional life, Steven is also very involved with his community as a member of the Wolseley Community School Council, Glenavon Agriculture Society, the Southeast Saskatchewan Social Services Appeal Board, and he sits on the international committees of both the Canadian Western Agribition and Canada's Farm Progress Show.

Steven is currently a member of the Standing Committee on the Economy, and he was previously a member of the Public Accounts Committee.

MLA - Buckley Belanger - Athabasca

Dear Lord. We pray today for Buckley Belanger and the things you have for him to do at the legislature. Help him to effectively work in opposition in a way that makes the province better. Give him insight into the most effective ways to improve the province balanced within the economic constraints. Amen.

Buckley Belanger was first elected to the Saskatchewan legislature in 1995 and re-elected in 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011, and 2016.

Buckley has been the NDP’s Deputy Whip, and served as critic for Highways and Infrastructure, SaskEnergy, SaskWater, and the Water Security Agency. In the past, Buckley has served as minister in various portfolios including Northern Affairs, Environment, Community Resources, and Highways and Transportation.

Prior to entering provincial politics, Buckley served three terms as mayor of Ile-a-la Crosse from 1988 to 1994. He has also worked as a journalist with the aboriginal publication New Breed and a programmer, producer, and administrator with the Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation in La Ronge.

He and his wife Beckie have three daughters, Michelle, Kellie, and Taylor.

MLA - Carla Beck - Regina Lakeview

Dear Lord. Thank you for Carla Beck. We pray today that you would give Carla a wonderful summer. May she and her family have an epic season full of memories and joy. We also pray for her work at the legislature. We pray that you would use Carla to keep the government accountable for their work. Help her to engage the difficult challenge of opposition with a classy flair. Amen.

Carla Beck was elected in 2016 as the MLA for Regina Lakeview.

Carla serves as Deputy Opposition Whip and is the critic for Education, Early Learning and Childcare, Crown Investments Corporation, Saskatchewan Government Insurance, and SaskEnergy.

Prior to entering politics, Carla was the assistant executive director at a local women's shelter. A registered social worker, she has over 20 years’ experience in that field, including work with Dales House, the Paul Dojack Centre, and the Regina General Hospital’s Women and Children’s Team.

In 2009, Carla was elected as the Trustee for Subdivision 5 on Regina Public School Board. She was named “Favourite School Board Trustee” in 2014 by the readers of Prairie Dog magazine.

Carla grew up on a mixed farm near Lang, Sk. For most of her life, Carla has been an active volunteer and leader in the community including work with the Sask. Abilities Council, Saskatchewan Coalition Against Racism, Saskatchewan Action Committee—Status of Women, Camp Easter Seal, Autism Resource Centre, the help line at Regina Sexual Assault Centre, MS Society, Cathedral Village Arts Festival, Cathedral Area Community Association, soccer, softball, baseball, hockey, and FADA Dance.

Carla is married to Guy Marsden. They have made the Cathedral area of Regina their home, together with their three children, Hannah, Nolan, and Maya, for the last 20 years

MLA - Tina Beaudry-Mellor - Regina University

Dear Lord. We pray today for the Honourable Tina Beaudry-Mellor. We ask you to give her a double portion of personal and professional development. Help her to become everything she is capable of becoming. May she hear a call from you that helps to guide her through the challenges of life in public office. Bless her family with health and prosperity. Amen. 

Tina Beaudry-Mellor was elected MLA for Regina University on April 4, 2016. She currently serves as Minister of Social Services and Minister responsible for the Status of Women. She is also a member of the advisory committee of the Saskatchewan Legislative Internship Program. She previously served on the Public Accounts Committee and the Standing Committee on Human Services.

Best known as a long-time instructor in the Department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Regina, Tina has published in everything from peer reviewed journals to op-eds and business magazines, commentating both on political and social issues.

Tina is the former chair of Equal Voice and served on the national board. She is also a former board member of the Saskatchewan Arts Board, the Community Investments Committee of the United Way, and the Regina Transition House. At the University of Regina, she served on the Community Research Unit board of the Faculty of Arts.

In addition to her academic work, Tina is the owner of a small management consulting business called TBM Strategies where she has done considerable policy work. She has also worked with the Continuing Education Centre of the University of Regina to write the Flexible Learning Strategy to build the institution's online, televised, and blended course and program offerings for students.

Tina is married and has very active teenage twins, Kayman and Montana

MLA - Ms. Colleen Young - Lloydminster

Dear Lord. We pray today for Colleen Young. We ask you to give her a whole new opportunity for helping people. May she be an inspiration to the people around her, especially her own family. May her government work have very real beneficial results for her constituents and the people of Saskatchewan. Amen.

Colleen was first elected to the Saskatchewan legislature in a November 13, 2014 by-election for the constituency of Lloydminster. She was re-elected in the 2016 provincial election. Colleen currently serves as a member of the Treasury Board, and she is Chair of the Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies.

Colleen was born and raised on a family farm east of Saskatoon and has called the Lloydminster riding home for the last 30 years. Colleen attended the College of Education at the University of Saskatchewan beginning in 1979 and has been active in education ever since. Colleen has been a trustee of the Lloydminster Public School Division Board of Education for the past 20 years and has served as the board chair for 16 of those years. Colleen is very active in the Lloydminster community. Involved with the Kiwanis Club, Learning Council, In Motion, Young Life, School Community Councils, and many other volunteer opportunities, she has always put kids, families, and newcomers to the community first.

Colleen and her husband, Kim, have one daughter, Nevada; seven sons: Casey, Chester, Riley, Fraser, Percy, Duke, and Ace; a wonderful daughter-in-law, Jessica; and two beautiful granddaughters, Pearl and Belle. She enjoys spending time with her family and close friends at the lake or whenever the opportunity arises.

MLA - Hon. Gordon Wyant - Saskatoon Northwest

Dear Lord. We thank you for the Honourable Gordon Wyant. We ask you to give him wisdom, tenacity and compassion as he decides the course of life for many people. May his adventures in life inform his decisions in government. May he be true to the wisdom within that calls for the right decision, not the easy decision. Bless he and his family this spring. Amen.

Gordon Wyant was elected MLA for Saskatoon Northwest in an October 2010 by-election. He was then re-elected in the 2011 and 2016 provincial elections. He is Minister of Justice and Attorney General, and Minister responsible for Saskatchewan Power Corporation and SaskBuilds. Gordon previously served Saskatchewan as Deputy Government House Leader.

Raised in Saskatoon, Gordon was the first Canadian-born member of his family. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in 1985, and graduated from the College of Law at the University of Saskatchewan in 1986. Shortly after convocation, Gordon began practicing law with the firm of McKercher LLP, where he practiced as a partner until his appointment as Attorney General. In 1987, Gordon received an award for highest standing in the 1987 Bar Admission course. He received his Queen's Counsel designation in 2009.

Since 2000, Gordon has also been an active public servant. He was elected as trustee for the Saskatoon Public School Board in 2000 and served as chair for two years. He was elected city councilor for Ward 5 in 2003 and was re-elected in 2006 and 2009.

Gordon and his wife Christine Hrudka have four children. In addition to his family, Gordon enjoys writing, skiing and motorcycling. He is also the proud recipient of the Sterling Writing Award for non-fiction, awarded in 1999.
