MLA: David Buckingham - Saskatoon Westview

Lord thank you that the “integrity of the upright guides them” and that today we have the opportunity to pray for a man of integrity. We ask for David that he would continue to be a man of the people, caring for them in ways that honour you. We pray that you would continue to give him an upright heart. We pray for grace and peace to be upon his family. Amen.

David Buckingham was elected MLA for Saskatoon Westview in the April 2016 provincial election. He currently serves on the Standing Committee on Economy.

Born and raised in the farming community near Shellbrook, Saskatchewan, David moved to Saskatoon in 1979 to pursue a career in the car hauling business as a commercial driver. In 1988, David and his wife Karen moved to the community of Borden to raise their three children.

Always an active volunteer in his community, David has served as a volunteer firefighter, president of the Borden Parks and Recreation Committee, and as the co-founder of the Highway 16 Fire Commission, a group that was formed to regionalize training for volunteer firefighters.

David served two terms as mayor of the Village of Borden. Prior to that he served one term as a councillor. A background in municipal government has given David a strong understanding of the issues of a growing and vibrant community. He wants to ensure the constituents of Saskatoon Westview have a voice at the provincial level as their community continues to grow.

David and his wife Karen enjoy spending time with their three children and three granddaughters.

MLA: Greg Brykich - Arm River

For the many years Greg Brykich has served his constituency in the legislature, we are thankful. He has modeled perseverance and a willingness to engage in a variety of portfolio’s in his tenure. Bless him with increased understanding and perspective in his roles and times of refreshing spiritually and physically over the summer break. Amen.

Greg Brkich was born and raised on the family farm in the Bladworth area where he operates a grain and cattle operation. Previous to his first election as MLA, Greg served six years on Bladworth Village Council. He is still an active, long-serving member of the Bladworth Elks Club.

First elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly on September 16th, 1999, Greg was re-elected in 2003, 2007, 2011, and again in 2016.

Greg's legislative duties have included senior critic for Regional Development and Co-operative Development, and deputy critic for SaskWater and SPMC. Greg also served on the House Services Committee, as the vice-chair of the Standing Committee on Private Members' Bills, and as a member of the Crown Corporations and Private Bills committees.

During his past terms in office, Greg has served as the Deputy Speaker and Chair of the Committee of the Whole.  He was a member of the legislature's Standing Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice, the Treasury Board, and the Investment Board. Greg has also served as a Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and the Minister of Economy.

Greg currently serves as Deputy Government Whip, a member of the caucus New Ideas Committee, the Standing Committee on Crowns and Central Agencies, the Privileges Committee, and the House Services Committee.

MLA: Fred Bradshaw - Carrot River Valley

Dear Lord, thank you for Fred Bradshaw and his contribution to the legislature and people of Carrot River. We pray he would continue to contribute wisdom and experience in this term of service. We ask that his leadership would empower and inspire the people around him. Give him, his wife Terry and their daughters good health and meaningful life experiences now and throughout 2016. Amen. 

Fred was first elected to the legislature in the 2007 provincial election and was re-elected in 2011.

Fred was born at Arborfield in 1951 and moved to Carrot River in 1960 where he still lives. In 1976 he married a local girl, Terry Novogrodski. Fred and Terry have had three children, Lisa (deceased), Morgan, and Gina.

Fred has always been very involved in the community. He has participated in a number of venues, including the town council for Carrot River, fire department, Pasquia Park board, Arborfield Dehy board, Boy Scout leader, Carrot River United Church choir, plus other entities too numerous to list. Provincially, Fred is past president of the Saskatchewan Aerial Applicator Association and past director of the Canadian Aerial Applicators Association. Additionally, Fred served on the founding board of the Northeast Early Childhood Intervention program.

Fred has been appointed to the legislature’s Standing Committee on the Economy, the caucus’ policy committee on the economy and the government’s Red Tape Reduction committee.

MLA: Hon. Bill Boyd - Kindersley

Lord, thank you for Hon. Bill Boyd’s vision and passion for his constituency and our province.  Cause his many years of service to provide insight, depth of wisdom and legislative memory for the issues being dealt with. May he experience spiritual vitality in his personal life and find many opportunities of enjoyment with Lynn and his children this summer.

Bill Boyd is one of the founding members of the Saskatchewan Party and has been involved in Saskatchewan politics for more than two decades.

Bill was the MLA for the Kindersley constituency from 1991 until he stepped down in 2002. Originally elected in 1991 as a Progressive Conservative MLA, Bill became the leader of that party in 1994. He was re-elected in 1995. In 1997, he and three of his colleagues joined with four Liberal MLAs and founded the Saskatchewan Party. When Bill was re-elected in 1999, he was one of 26 MLAs elected under the Saskatchewan Party banner. He was once again elected in the Kindersley constituency in the 2007 and 2011 provincial elections.

Bill is currently the Minister of the Economy, Energy and Resources, Minister Responsible for The Global Transportation Hub Authority, and Saskatchewan Power Corporation.

Bill and his wife Lynn operate a pedigree seed farm near Eston. They have two adult children.

MLA: Steven Bonk - Moosomin

Father, we are grateful for Steven Bonk and the vast international experience he brings to his portfolio. Give him the ability to discern and focus on what matters for SK and the people of Moosomin constituency. Use his family’s rich heritage in the community to establish strong relationships that will benefit those he serves. Refresh Steven, Candace and Emma with fun memories together this summer. 

Steven Bonk was nominated as candidate for Moosomin in September 2014.Steven has strong ties to his local constituency being the 5th generation of his family to reside there.

Steven has extensive experience in the domestic and international agribusiness fields. He has worked on four continents as a consultant in agricultural management and policy development. Steven has also worked as an advisor on International trade and market access. He lived in Europe for nearly a decade, where he was the managing director of livestock based enterprises and as a management consultant to help companies grow and solve strategic challenges with the transition to a free market economy, particularly in post-soviet countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He communicates in four languages, facilitating his participation on international roundtable discussion panels and he is a recognized speaker at agribusiness related events. Steven is also actively involved in his family's custom grazing and livestock business near Wolseley.

In addition to his busy personal and professional life, Steven is also very involved with his community as a member of the Wolseley Community School Council, Glenavon Agriculture Society, the Southeast Saskatchewan Social Services Appeal Board, and he sits on the international committees of both the Canadian Western Agribition and Canada's Farm Progress Show.

Steven and his wife Candace have an eleven-year-old daughter, Emma.

MLA: Buckley Belanger - Athabasca

Buckley Belanger was first elected to the Saskatchewan legislature in 1995 and re-elected in 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2011.

Today, Buckley is the NDP’s Deputy Whip, and serves as critic for Highways and Infrastructure, SaskEnergy, SaskWater, and the Water Security Agency. In the past, Buckley has served as minister in various portfolios including Northern Affairs, Environment, Community Resources, and Highways and Transportation.

Prior to entering provincial politics, Buckley served three terms as mayor of Ile-a-la Crosse from 1988 to 1994. He has also worked as a journalist with the aboriginal publication New Breed and a programmer, producer, and administrator with the Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation in La Ronge.

He and his wife Beckie have three daughters, Michelle, Kellie, and Taylor.

MLA: Carla Beck, Regina Lakeview

Lord, today it is a privilege to lift before you Carla Beck. We thank you for the passion with which she lives and serves. We pray today for favour, wisdom, and strength for the days, months and years ahead.  We pray a blessing of peace over her family and ask that you continue to guide them in making the decisions that are best for them. Amen.

Carla is passionate about economic and social justice. She is committed to working for a future that is economically and environmentally sustainable for all.Carla is married to Guy Marsden. They have made the Cathedral area of Regina their home, together with their three children, for the last 20 years. She grew up on a mixed farm near Lang, Saskatchewan.

Carla is the Assistant Executive Director at a local women's shelter, where she helps manage the women’s shelter, which includes program development, staffing, public speaking, and building partnerships with community organizations on issues related to violence and housing. She is a registered social worker and has over 20 years’ experience in that field, including work with Dales House, the Paul Dojack Centre, and the Regina General Hospital’s Women and Children’s Team.

Carla has a twenty-year history of community involvement and activism. She was a founding member and spokesperson for RealRenewal which led the fight to save Ecole Connaught Community School and to promote change in education. As a member of the School Community Council at Connaught, she organized a walking school bus and walk to school event to draw attention to the benefits of local neighbourhood schools. She also served as a board member for two community preschools.

In 2009, Carla was first elected as the Trustee for Subdivision 5 on Regina Public School Board. She was one of only two trustees who voted against the demolition of the historic Connaught School. She also opposed the closures of Dieppe, Haultain and Athabasca Schools.

Carla has been a long-time activist, working on many campaigns including volunteering for the Regina Water Watch coalition in the 2013 waste water treatment plant referendum. She has also helped on many NDP campaigns in the last 15 years.

For most of her life, she has been an active volunteer and leader in our community including work with the Sask. Abilities Council, Saskatchewan Coalition Against Racism, Saskatchewan Action Committee—Status of Women, Camp Easter Seal, Autism Resource Centre, the help line at Regina Sexual Assault Centre, MS Society, Cathedral Village Arts Festival, Cathedral Area Community Association, soccer, softball and FADA Dance.She was named “Favourite School Board Trustee” in 2014 by the readers of Prairie Dog magazine.
