MLA: WARREN STEINLEY - REGINA WALSH ACRES


Dear Lord. Thank you for Warren Steinley. Thank you for the opportunities that he has had to develop and grow as well as the challenges that have really made him who he is. We pray that you would continue to bring the deep learning opportunities to him in order to prepare him for the works that you have laid out in his future. We ask that he would have a plan that includes spiritual investment and relational depth. Amen.
Warren Steinley was first elected in the constituency of Regina Walsh Acres in the 2011 provincial election.

Warren grew up on a dairy farm near Rush Lake where he did everything from milking cows to marketing breeding stock at exhibitions across Western Canada.

Warren then graduated with an Honours Degree in Political Science from the University of Regina where he was a member of the Cougars Track and Field team. He also co-founded the local Saskatchewan Party Campus Club.

After university, Warren combined his farm background and his commitment to public service by spending a summer as an intern in the Minister of Agriculture's office in Ottawa. He then worked within the Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification's office during the fall of 2008.

Warren worked in various government roles with the latest one being Director of Research in the Caucus office prior to being elected on November 7, 2011.

Warren, his wife Larissa and their son, Nickson reside in Regina.

MLA: CATHY SPROULE - SASKATOON NUTANA


Dear Lord. Thank you for Cathy Sproule. Thank you for her focus and courage. We ask today that you bless her with more responsibility and the backbone to rise to the challenge. Help her to see the reality of the situation through the haze of hearsay and gossip that can choke out the truth. Bless her with deep relationships with her sons and her closest friends. Amen.
Cathy Sproule was elected to represent the constituency of Saskatoon Nutana in 2011.

Born and raised on a farm in southern Saskatchewan, Cathy Sproule worked as a lawyer for the federal government as an aboriginal law specialist prior to being elected.

Cathy co-founded the Ness Creek Music Festival in 1991, and the Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Festival in 2006. She organizes music workshops, dances, and concerts around the province to keep a part of Saskatchewan's history alive. She is an accomplished fiddle player, and the house accompanist for the Saskatoon Fiddle Orchestra.

Cathy is bilingual and holds bachelor degrees in Education, Law, and Arts from the University of Saskatchewan. She co-owns Ness Core Ventures, a small business that operates the Nesslin Lake Campgrounds and the Ness Creek Site.

Cathy has two sons.

MLA: LAURA ROSS - REGINA QU'APPELLE VALLEY


Dear Lord. We ask today that you bless Laura Ross. We seek a truly meaningful challenge for her and ask that you put before her a deep calling. May she become aware of a deep need in the province that nobody else is addressing. Put before her a project that is worthy of a great woman’s attention. Bless her in this with a deep spiritual walk and a special group of friends around her. Amen.
Laura was first elected as an MLA for Regina Qu’Appelle Valley constituency in 2007 and was re-elected in 2011. She was appointed Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Health, responsible for retention and recruitment of nurses, long-term care and the reduction of surgical wait times. She was also Minister of Government Services.

Laura currently serves on the caucus’ policy committee on human services and the legislature’s Standing Committee on Human Services, is a member of the board of directors of the Crown Investments Corporation of Saskatchewan and is a member of the creative industries cabinet committee.

Laura is a founding member of the Saskatchewan Chapter of Equal Voice and serves as a role model and mentor to young women interested in professional and political lives. Laura also was instrumental in the development of Regina’s first Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build project in 2011 and she sat on a committee to spearhead the Habitat for Humanity Mountie House.

Laura Ross was born and raised on the family farm near Yorkton and attended the University of Regina where she obtained a B.A. in geography and sociology. For more than twenty years Laura was a licensed realtor in Regina specializing in residential properties. Prior to her success as a realtor, she operated her own catering company and farmed with her husband Terry.

Laura and her husband currently reside in Regina. They have one son.

MLA: JIM REITER - ROSETOWN-ELROSE - MINISTER OF GOVERNMENT RELATIONS, MINISTER RESPONSIBLE FOR FIRST NATIONS, METIS AND NORTHERN AFFAIRS AND MINSITER RESPONSIBLE FOR SASKENERGY


Dear Lord. Thank you for the honourable Jim Reiter and his attention to the people of Saskatchewan. We ask today that he would find a sense of balance and equilibrium between his professional life in public office and his life outside the legislature. May he find deep meaning in his work. May he have multiple opportunities before him to demonstrate excellence and compassion. Help him to experience an ever deepening spiritual life that colours everything he does just a little brighter. Amen. 
Jim Reiter was first elected as the MLA for Rosetown-Elrose in the 2007 provincial election and was re-elected in 2011. 

Professionally, Jim has extensive experience in municipal governance. He was the long-time administrator for the Rural Municipalities of Marriott and Pleasant Valley. He has served as director, Vice-President, and President of the Rural Municipal Administrators' Association (RMAA), as well as executive director.

Among his educational accomplishments is a Senior Certificate in Local Government Administration from the University of Regina. He also served six years on the U of R Senate. Jim has served his community as a Justice of the Peace and marriage commissioner.

Jim served as the Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Education with specific responsibility for the Property Tax Initiative. His report formed the basis for the largest education property tax cut in a single year in the province's history. Jim served as the Minister of Highways and Infrastructure and the Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Transportation Company.

Jim currently serves as Minister of Government Relations, Minister Responsible for First Nations, Métis and Northern Affairs, and Minister Responsible for SaskEnergy.

MLA: KEVIN PHILLIPS - MELFORT



Dear Lord. We pray today for Kevin Phillips and ask that you would guide and teach him. May he find the right people to help him navigate some of the more tricky elements of his job. Help him to stay optimistic and excited while remaining pragmatic and authentic. Energize him and his social network with deepening urgency and focus. Amen.
Kevin Phillips was first elected in the 2011 provincial election for the constituency of Melfort.

Kevin has lived in his constituency for most of his life. He worked in business and advertising, including being a partner with the Melfort Journal for over 25 years and sitting on the board of the Canadian Community Newspaper Association and the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association. Most recently he was a partner in an automotive dealership. Kevin served for five years as mayor of Melfort during which time he lead a period of tremendous growth in residential and commercial areas of the city of Melfort. He was also vice-chair of the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association SUMAssure Reciprocal Insurance company.

Kevin has been very involved in the Melfort community. He is a past president and life member of the Kinsmen club of Melfort and previously served as a board member, finance chairman and chairman of the board of the then Melfort school division. 

Kevin and his wife April together have four children and seven grandchildren. 

Kevin is a member of the legislature’s Standing Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice.

MLA: ROGER PARENT - SASKATOON MEEWASIN


Dear Lord. Thank you for Roger Parent. We ask today that you give him a renewed excitement for the opportunities in front of him. Even if the needs seem overwhelming, we ask that you would inspire him to dive in and give it a go, regardless if it seems futile or not. Give him a tenacity to do what is right and the wisdom to identify what that is. Bless him and his family with health and joy. Amen.

Roger Parent was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in the 2011 provincial election for the Saskatoon Meewasin constituency.

Prior to entering politics, Roger was a business consultant working with a variety of organizations developing aboriginal businesses around the province. Roger spent many years prior to aboriginal business development in project management and as technical advisor in equipment and building services. He is a graduate of SIAST in mechanical engineering technology and a graduate from the University of Saskatchewan in Business Administration. Roger also graduated from Purchasing Management Association of Canada at the University of Saskatchewan.

He has been involved with several initiatives within the community, including Canadian institute of Management, Purchasing Management Association of Canada, SREDA Aboriginal Economic Development committee, the Saskatoon Homelessness Initiative partnership, and most recently as a board member for the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation. Provincially Roger has been on the board of directors for the Saskatchewan Economic Development Association, Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers, Action Saskatchewan Summit committee, Northern Apprenticeship committee and the Northern Labour Market committee.

Roger and his wife Sheila have lived most of their lives in Saskatoon, in the Meewasin constituency.

Hon. Greg Ottenbreit - Yorkton

Dear Lord, thank you for the Honourable Greg Ottenbreit. We ask today for your steady hand to guide his time within political life which can often be chaotic and challenging. We ask that you build up and greatly use Greg for significant improvements to the lives of the Saskatchewan people. Protect his family and may he have a wonderful summer. Amen.  

Greg was first elected as the MLA for Yorkton in the 2007 provincial election and was re-elected in 2011. Born in Regina, Greg has lived in Yorkton for most of his life, and has always been involved in his community. Prior to being elected, Greg owned and operated Ottenbreit Waste Systems, a private environmental and waste disposal business.

Greg has been married to his high school sweetheart, Leone, for over 26 years, and has two daughters, Katelin and Rayanne. In 1998, the couple started Brayden Ottenbreit Close Cuts for Cancer, an event that encourages volunteers to shave their head to raise money for cancer research and local initiatives. The charity, which has raised almost $700,000, is named in honour of their son Brayden who lost his battle with cancer in 2000 at age 5.

Greg and Leone received the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal in 2005 for their community involvement and volunteerism. Greg was recognized in 2012 with the Hal Rogers Fellow Award, the highest honour presented by the Kinsmen of Canada.

Greg has served as the Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Social Services, Community Based Organizations initiative and as Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Environment, Recycling. In June 2010, he was appointed as Legislative Secretary to the Premier for Vulnerable Youth. Greg has served as Chair of the caucus' standing policy committee on human services and the Chair of the legislature's Standing Committee on Human Services. He has served as Deputy Government Whip and Government Whip. On September 24, 2014, he was appointed as the Minister Responsible for Rural and Remote Health.
